Through my media research I have looked at four thriller film opening sequences. They were paranormal activity 3, black swan, somebody help me 2 case 39 and unborn.

All of these title sequences have similarities and represented thriller in different way. They all commonly were set in a dark place or had low key lighting; this was used to create more of a thrill as he audience had to focus more to see what’s going on or what is going to happen. Contrast was used frequently the effect of using a bright could eg white on a dark background eg black is to make it clear this was used most when there was credits going across the screen. Background music and sound effects is very important as that’s what builds up tension. Sounds such as base sounds, wind, loud noise then quite, footsteps, unexpected thunderstorm noises, hear beat and violins, these techniques was used in all of the thriller title sequences.
